COL Louis Carmona - Remembrance

With sadness we share the news that COL Louis Carmona passed away on November 13, 2019 in Honolulu after many years of living with Alzheimer's Disease. He was predeceased by his wife, Carole, in 2015. His daughter, Laura, was with him at the time of his passing. 

col carmona1Lou served as Chief, Occupational Therapist Section and Assistant Chief, Army Medical Specialist Corps, in addition to many other roles throughout his Army career from 1958-1986. His first staff therapist assignment was to Letterman Army Medical Center; in 1960 he was transferred as a staff therapist to Brooke Army Medical Center and was subsequently appointed OT Clinical Affiliation Coordinator. In 1968, he was assigned as the Chief, OT Section, 2nd General Hospital, Landstuhl, Germany. In 1970, he was assigned to Fitzsimons Army Medical Center as Assistant Chief, OT Section.  In 1978, he was appointed Chief, OT Section, Office of The Surgeon General; Assistant Chief, Army Medical Specialist Corps and OT Consultant to The Surgeon General. Colonel Carmona concurrently held the position of Chief, OT Section, Walter Reed Army Medical Center. In 1981, he was stationed at Tripler Army Medical Center until his retirement in 1986, spending his remaining years in Hawaii.

His Funeral Mass and Interment will be at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific (Punchbowl) in Honolulu on February 7, 2020.

  • 2:00-5:00 - Celebration of Life - Pupus and Cocktails - Hale Koa Hotel - Laulima Suite - 2055 Kalia Rd
